Steven's Inspiration

The inspiration for Electra and the DM Deception came from a deep desire to protect kids from some of the hidden dangers lurking behind screens. As a strong advocate for cybersecurity education, I wanted to create a story that didn’t just entertain, but empowered. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly trust can be manipulated online, and how silence often becomes the most dangerous part. Through Electra, Glitch, and Gigabyte, I wanted to create heroes who could help kids recognize red flags, understand their instincts, and know that asking for help is never a weakness.

Sextortion is one of the fastest-growing threats facing youth today. According to recent FBI data, thousands of children—especially boys—have been targeted by predators pretending to be peers, only to be blackmailed with private images. The trauma is real, and the consequences can be devastating. This book doesn’t use graphic language or fear tactics—it teaches through story. It opens the door to conversations that can save lives. Electra may be part machine, but her greatest power is something every child has: the courage to speak up.
